Lucky Numbers
Katie works as a cleaner at Hull College and looks after the Lottery syndicate for 18 of her colleagues. Charlie, Katie’s niece, is new to the job and they all meet to celebrate their birthday. Whilst they’re waiting to go out, they watch the numbers come in. And wouldn’t you know it…
As some of her colleagues make huge life decisions, Katie realises she can’t find the ticket. What will they do if they can’t find it? Will they get the money? And if not, will they stick to the decisions they have made?
Lucky Numbers is a response to the cost of living crisis and asks the question; why are you waiting for a miracle to change your life?
Lucky Numbers is a brand-new 70-minute commission for Fresh Ink and a work-in-progress play. A second draft will be performed script-in-hand inside a marquee on Stage@TheDock in Hull's Fruit Market.
