Fresh Ink: Hull Playwriting Festival 2024

The inaugural edition of a new festival showcasing plays by Hull writers

The inaugural 2024 edition featured script-in-hand performances in a marquee on Stage@TheDock, an amphitheatre by the river Hull, alongside a sharing of short scenes by the Middle Child Writers’ Group and a teaser of Biting Point, Middle Child’s 2025 play by Sid Sagar.

The programme also include writer workshops and industry talks at the pop-up space on Pier Street and a keynote speech from David Byrne, artistic director of the Royal Court.

Fresh Ink 2024 was produced by co-founders Middle Child and sponsored by co-founders Wykeland, with support from the J F Brignall Charitable Trust.

The 2024 festival was also supported Hull City Council, I Am Fund, Two Ridings Community Foundation, Hull and East Riding Charitable Trust, Hull Truck Theatre, the Warren Youth Project and the Garrick Charitable Trust.
