Humza is fed up with feeling weak. Today everything changes: he’s going to lift 60 kilos for the first time (don’t judge).
To him, this isn’t just a dingy, dark gym; it’s more than that—it’s his amphitheatre, his octagon where he’s the champion, his home. But when his old high school bully walks in, it all comes crashing down.
Humza is going to have to dig deep. Set over an intense session on the benches, this monologue dives into power, memory, and the battles we fight with ourselves.
All plays will be performed script-in-hand, by professional actors, after a short rehearsal period.

Writer
Sean Climie hails from the middle of nowhere near Glasgow and came to Hull to study drama at university. Like many, he wanted to be an actor when he joined, but left having written two plays and developing an enthusiasm for character and world building.
Sean graduated in the pandemic and, finding employment opportunities scarce back home and missing connections made during university, he relocated to Hull. He took part in Hull Truck’s Introduction to Playwriting course last year and attended workshops at Fresh Ink 2024.
