Let It Burn

1869. Humber Street. Hull’s rebuilt Theatre Royal stands proud, ten years after burning to the ground, but existential threats are never far away...

As the theatre’s royal patronage faces the chop, director Clinton Hall assembles a rag-tag troupe of thespians to stage the ultimate stage mash-up: Hamlet Crusoe.‍ ‍

Will their desperate attempt to impress the powers that be succeed, or will their theatrical ambitions go up in smoke (again)?

Let It Burn is a farce about the noble pursuit of making art and a love letter to the Hull theatre that burnt down. Twice.

Let It Burn is Middle Child’s 2027 production and an extract from an early draft will be performed script-in-hand on Stage@TheDock.
