Apply now for Fresh Ink 2026

Applications are now open for writers to bag one of seven paid commissions at Fresh Ink: Hull Playwriting Festival 2026.

Whether you're an experienced playwright looking to put something new in front of an audience, or a first-time writer dipping your toe in the water, we want to hear from you.

There are a range of paid commissions available, including two 70-minute full-length plays, two 30-minute pieces and three short monologues.

Applications are open to any writer over the age of 18 with a meaningful connection to Hull, meaning you don't have to currently work or live here.
